Shrine of the Book

The Shrine of the Book was built to house the Dead Sea Scrolls and other important artefacts.   The unusual design was inspired by the scrolls themselves.   The distinctive dome is intended to imitate the lids of the jars in which the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.

Die “Shrine of the Book” was gebou om die “Dooie See rolle” in te bêre tesame met ander belangrike artefak.  Die buitengewone ontwerp was geinspireer deur die rolle self.  Die bedoeling van die kenmerkende koepel is om die deksels van die kruik waarin die “Dooie See Rolle” gevind is na te boots.
